Council will provide free venue hire at the Tanks Art Centre for two key events that provide benefits for local secondary students.
The Peninsula Art Educators Association has been granted Tank 4 Gallery venue and equipment hire (worth $5000) for the Energy Exhibition.
The Energy Exhibition is a free event held annually that showcases the local region’s best young emerging artists.
Talented senior visual arts students from across the Far North are given the opportunity to present their artworks to the community through a professional exhibition.
As a result of the exhibition’s high standard of artwork, the Tanks curator has extended the annual exhibition’s running time to a total of five weeks this year, from 4 September to 6 October.
Council today also endorsed providing venue hire and assistance to the Clontarf Boys Academy (for the amount of $5,000) to stage its annual employment forum in August as part of its pathways to employment program.
Clontarf has successfully helped young Indigenous men to attend school, finish Year 12 and enter employment.
This year, Clontarf has been providing mentoring and guidance to 700 secondary students in the region.
The forum is planned to be held on 21 August, with an anticipated attendance of 100 people.
