Precinct One open to all
City of Wodonga 23 Jul 2020

Precinct One is now open to the community to enjoy and use.

The temporary green space and accompanying car park off High St is half-turfed with paved areas and a path to Jack Hore Way, benches with umbrellas and tree and shrub plantings in a similar design to the surrounding precinct.

The turf will be irrigated to ensure year-round useability. The landscaped area will also be protected by bollards along the western and southern edges.

The remaining area will be reinstated to be used as an overflow carpark for the precinct with access off Church St. There are more than 80 car parks.

Precinct One has been leased by Wodonga Council for seven years.

Wodonga Mayor Cr Anna Speedie said she had noticed many people out enjoying the space and hoped this continued into the future.

"We know how much our community loves Junction Square so we wanted to be able to extend it and to be able to have more room and be able to come down to the heart of your city and be able to enjoy it," she said.

"There's new umbrellas up over the seating. We have put in 13 new trees and they will take a bit of time to grow.

"We've got nearly 90 new car parks to be able to accommodate all of you coming to Junction Square.

"This is a fantastic thing for our community to have. I look forward to seeing you here."
