The benefits of using solar energy are already well-documented, but community uptake in our area still remains low. In fact, less than 14 percent of compatible homes across the Northern Beaches have solar installed.
The future is looking a little brighter however, if our recent webinar series called ‘Sustainability for your Home’ is anything to go by.
The session that focused on solar and batteries was particularly popular, with close to 100 residents tuning into the two-hour live session on 7 July.
Presented in partnership with the Australian Energy Foundation, participants of the webinar responded to a poll during the session, providing some insight into why they are currently looking to install solar.
Their response to ‘Why do you want to install solar? (85% of participants voted), was as follows:
· Reduce carbon emissions – 71% · Save money – 74% · Become self-sufficient – 44%
Here’s what a few of the participants had to say:
“Thank you so much for this excellent presentation. Love your enthusiasm! Very inspired to go ahead with solar ASAP.”
“Great presentation with loads of food for thought and heaps to reinforce our research to date.”
The results are already in when it comes to saving money - with the average household on the Northern Beaches saving an average of $1,138 a year by installing solar*.
Have you considered switching to solar and reaping the benefits?
We are looking to make this decision a little easier for you, with a number of measures to be rolled out over the next few months. So watch this space.
In the meantime you can find heaps of handy information on our Simplifying Solar pages.
