Applications are open for Gannawarra Shire Council’s annual Community Grants Program.
One of the key features of Council’s 2020/2021 Budget, community groups and organisations are encouraged to apply for up to $5,000 per application to support local projects, events and activities to be implemented over the upcoming twelve months.
Mayor Lorraine Learmonth said that these small grants provide communities with the opportunity to achieve community goals and to make the Gannawarra a better place to live.
“Council understands that planning and implementing small community-led projects makes a significant difference to supporting people to connect and feel pride and ownership in their community,” Mayor Learmonth said.
“Whether it is support for facility upgrades, the purchase of materials for projects or funding needed to enable a community event to proceed in a COVIDSafe manner, Council encourages community groups and not-for-profit organisations to consider applying.”
Grant applications can be submitted through the online SmartyGrants system, accessible via www.gsc.vic.gov.au/grants, under the following categories:

“Groups looking to apply for funding are urged to first refer to the Council Plan, which can be viewed on Council’s website, and their relevant community profile to ensure their project complements the priorities of the community and Council.
“Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact Council to discuss a project idea before submitting a grant application.”
