Works on the Laby Street Drainage have now commenced. Ararat Rural City Council CEO Tim Harrison stated that “the project will provide a much-needed improvement in the area”.
The $60,000 upgrades were approved as part of the new council budget and the project will see the old 300mm pipes replaced with wider 600mm pipes that can better handle the excess stormwater coming through.
During this project, some trees will need to be removed, however they will be replaced with a new species, that are better suited to the urban environment.
Work is anticipated to be completed by the end of September. During this time there will be some minor noise disruptions, and a temporary street detour.
CEO Dr Tim Harrison said that “residents and the wider community can be assured that the staff are working hard to ensure that there are minimal disruptions while the works are underway.”
He also stated that “People will be well informed of any disruptions, and given plenty of time to plan”
