We need your help!
On Wednesday 1 July, the Australian Red Cross Lifeblood Councils Blood Challenge kicked off for another year. The challenge will run until 30 September 2020.
What is the blood challenge? The councils blood challenge is an initiative of Australian Red Cross Lifeblood and encourages councils across Australia to compete to make the most blood and plasma donations during the challenge period. There is a continuous demand for blood donations all year round, but the challenge period offers the opportunity for different organisations to roll up their sleeves and participate in one of the largest donation events of the year!
Blood donations are used for 22 different medical treatments for the 1 in 3 Australians who will need blood donations at least once in their lives, although only 1 in 30 donate!
Blacktown City Council has a strong history in the challenge, being ranked first in Australia in 2019 after an amazing 478 donations were made by our staff and the community. Now it is our time again this year to donate blood and save some more lives!
How can you help?If you would like to get involved, and save 3 lives in the process, you simply need to ask for your donation to be recorded on Blacktown City Council's tally at your next donation.
You can book an appointment to donate blood at donateblood.com.au.
