Wyndham City is calling on artists in the community to help add creative and cultural flair to the recently redeveloped - The Grange Community Centre.

Council is seeking artists to submit an expression of interest to create a new artwork feature on the centre’s south-facing windows.

Arts and Heritage portfolio holder Cr Tony Hooper said Wyndham City was committed to engaging talented contemporary artists to ensure the centre’s décor represents the culture and heritage of the area as well as the changing culturally diverse community.

“We understand that some of our local artists are impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, we encourage local artists to apply to create a stunning artwork that will be become a feature of this important community space,” Cr Hooper said.

“The theme of the artwork is acknowledging our municipality’s rich Aboriginal heritage as well as reflecting on the vibrant and changing, culturally diverse community.”

“It should help create a welcoming and inclusive space for residents to enjoy.”

“Once the artist is selected and the work is completed, Wyndham City Council will manage the print and installation of the final artwork in consultation with the artist.”

“Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists are strongly encouraged to submit an Expression of Interest.”
