Need to pop into a Church Street shop quickly? Perhaps you’re waiting on a takeaway… Council has you covered with three new 15-minute parking spaces on St Andrews and Church Streets in Brighton.
A 15-minute parking space has been created by temporarily changing the parking time restrictions at 10 St Andrews Street outside The Royale Brothers. From Friday 7 August 2020, two further 15-minute spaces will be outside 25-27 Church Street in front of Hellenic Republic. These changes will be trialled until 22 August 2020 to ensure shoppers and delivery drivers can find a parking space quickly while nearby roundabout works are underway.
Church Street traders have welcomed these changes in response to an increase in quick shopping trips for essential items and local restaurants switching to take-away or delivery only during COVID-19 restrictions.
While these changes are only temporary, Council will consider extending these time restrictions while COVID-19 restrictions are in place if there is continued demand and support from traders.
Where to find free 15-minute parkingAt 10 St Andrews Street, the existing 15-minute loading zone from 8am to 6pm Monday to Saturday will now include a new 15-minute parking restriction between 6pm and 11pm, Monday to Saturday, for any vehicle.
At 25-27 Church Street from 7 August 2020 when the new signs are installed, the two parking spaces outside Hellenic Republic will change from 1-hour parking to 15-minute parking between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Saturday.
