Wyndham City 2 Aug 2020

Wyndham City Council is hosting a mentor and professional development program for local Wyndham artists.

Council is hosting Wunder Gym, a program set up by Melbourne creative Annette Wagner, to help artists seeking mentors and the company of other artists to allow them to develop their skills.

Arts and heritage portfolio holder Cr Tony Hooper said the program will match emerging, mid-career, or established artists with leading contemporary artists to develop and extend their practice.

“The arts community has been deeply impacted by the current pandemic and Wyndham City is helping to encourage emerging artists to continue to develop their skills, so we can continue to grow our rich arts community while Covid-19 restrictions are in place,” Cr Hooper said.

“The free program will offer Wyndham artists the opportunity to exhibit in a virtual gallery and be involved in a public art activation.”

“We have already successfully completed one of these programs, which resulted in 15 Wyndham artists showcasing their work in a virtual exhibition.”

Places for the upcoming program are limited to 20 people and applications close at 6pm on Monday 10th August.
