Simmental cross weaner heifers make 426c/$862 at B...

Numbers lifted by 2000 to 4400 for the monthly Blackall weaner and store sale for July 2020. It was a very good quality yarding with several large lines of vendor bred steers and heifers on offer that was met by strong demand from local buyers and southern Queensland feedlots.

The yarding consisted of cattle drawn from the Blackall, Barcaldine, Aramac, Hughenden, Longreach, Muttaburra, Isisford, Torren Creek, Jundah, Charleville and Alpha districts.

Bulls over 450kg made 255c, average 255c.

Cows under 300kg sold to 160c, average 154c, and cows 300-400kg sold to 244c, average 168c.

Heifers under 220kg made 426c, average 374c, heifers 220-280kg sold to 398c, averaging 348c, heifers 280-350kg reached 394c, average 341c, and heifers 350-450kg made 366c, average 341c.

Steers under 220kg sold to 470c, average 420c, steers 220-280kg sold to 470c, averaging 415c, steers 280-350kg made 436c, average 385c, steers 350-400kg reached 410c, average 379c, and steers 400-550kg made 386c, average 376c.

Mickeys made to 438c, to average 345c.
