A leadfoot driver has been charged for speeding almost 60kph above the limit on the highway. Police said that on August 3, a 58-year-old Mornington man was intercepted by Mount Isa Road Policing Unit along the Barkly Highway near Mount Isa, allegedly travelling 159km/h in a 100km/h zone . The man was fined $1245 and eight demerit points. His licence was also suspended for six months. Meanwhile another two local youths have been charged with stealing in Mount Isa Between 1.45am and 2.30am on July 30, two people allegedly gained entry into a local motel before stealing two cash registers and $400. Two Mount Isa boys, aged 14 and 15, have been charged with enter premises and commit and are due to appear in Mount Isa Childrens Court at a later date.
