Little River’s Possy Newland Reserve is scoring an upgrade – and we want you to help shape its new look.
Preliminary designs for the park include a redeveloped basketball court, a revamped play space featuring a mix of traditional play equipment and nature-based play features, and improvements to the picnic and BBQ area.
The existing skate park, path network and toilet block will be retained.
Wyndham City Family Friendly City portfolio holder Cr Mia Shaw said once complete, these works would breathe new life into the park and provide Little River residents of all ages with the perfect space to exercise, play, socialise with friends or relax.
“Over the past decade, a growing body of research has shown that a high-quality network of public open space has direct benefits for our physical health, mental wellbeing, social interactions, sense of community identity and our local economy,” Cr Shaw said.
“This upgrade will establish Possy Newland Reserve as a District Park in accordance with the Wyndham Open Space Strategy 2045, meaning that it will serve the wider Little River community and surrounds.”
“Wyndham City understands the importance and value of open space, that’s why we’re investing in these important works to deliver a space the whole family can enjoy.”
Council is encouraging residents to have their say on the proposed upgrades by participating in a short survey on The Loop website, which is open until 31st August.
The survey gives residents the opportunity to view and comment on the designs for Possy Newland Reserve and this feedback will be used to inform the final detailed design.
Construction is expected to commence in mid-2021.
