Works to prepare and rejuvenate the outdoor swimming pools throughout the Gannawarra for the 2020/2021 season have started.
Rejuvenation works at Gannawarra Shire Council-managed outdoor pools at Cohuna and Kerang, as well as the community-managed Leitchville swimming pool, are scheduled to occur leading up to the start of the pool season.
“With the 2020/2021 swimming pool season to begin in November, now is the perfect time to undertake maintenance works at these three popular facilities,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.
“More than 31,000 people visited the Cohuna and Kerang outdoor pools last season, and these works will ensure those who visit our aquatic facilities this summer will enjoy their time in the water.”
Works have started at the Cohuna Swimming Pool, highlighted by the repair of expansion joints in the facility’s main pool.
“Council undertook rectification works as a temporary measure in November 2019 after discovering that a section of the expansion joints in the venue’s main pool were exposed, following the opening of the facility,” Mr O’Reilly said.
“The replacement of the expansion joints in the main pool, as well as the refurbishment of the facility’s kiosk and painting of the pool’s surface will prepare the Cohuna Swimming Pool for another busy season.”
Works to refurbish the Kerang Swimming Pool kiosk will be completed in time for the coming season, with painting of the facility’s waterslide and replacement of paving to be completed.
Meanwhile, improvements have been made to the Leitchville Swimming Pool’s change rooms and toilets to stop birds accessing this venue, with shade covers for the facility’s toddler pool to be also installed.
“Council looks forward to the completion of these works and welcomes residents and visitors back to these popular facilities later in the year,” Mr O’Reilly said.
