The Snowy Monaro Region boasts a strong arts and culture sector and now the community is being encouraged to help shape the future of this sector throughout the region.
A discussion paper released by the Snowy Monaro Regional Council Arts and Culture Advisory Committee allows the community to have their say on the priorities and direction of the region’s arts and culture sector.
The discussion paper is designed to generate conversation amongst decision-makers, those who actively participate and engage in the arts, as well as encourage the broader community to better understand and appreciate the contribution arts makes in society.
“An important part of ensuring the Snowy Monaro remains a vibrant, inclusive and connected community is a thriving creative sector,” Snowy Monaro Regional Council’s Community Development Officer Kristy Harvey said.
“Now we need to develop a strong and cohesive framework to give further momentum to bring the arts, culture and creativity into the everyday for everyone and further develop the economic benefit.”
Feedback provided on the discussion paper will help inform the creation of the Arts, Creativity and Cultural Strategic Plan and the further enhancement of the Snowy Monaro’s arts and culture community.
“Before people start providing feedback, we recommend having a read of the discussion paper and having it open as you complete the questions as they relate to specific sections of the discussion paper,” Ms Harvey said.
Copies of the discussion paper and surveys to provide feedback are available online at Your Say Snowy Monaro or any Council office, library or visitors centre. Feedback closes Wednesday 30 September 2020.
