Emerald Saleyards Coordination Committee seeks new member

Central Highlands Regional Council is seeking expressions of interest for a processor/commission livestock buyer to join its Emerald Saleyards Coordination Committee reference group. 

The buyer must be from the Central Highlands community. 

The committee is chaired by council and its role is to provide structured communication between council, saleyards management and staff, the Emerald Livestock Selling Association, Agforce and other relevant stakeholders.  

Councillor Joseph Burns said the successful applicant would have the opportunity to offer advice and recommendations about matters relating to the activities and management of the Emerald Saleyards facility including: 

Saleyard livestock management  saleyard infrastructure  policy development and review  sustainability. 

‘We want to ensure the future sustainability of the saleyards by ensuring all decisions and future planning consider a balance of economic and environmental elements. Having a processor/commission livestock buyer on the committee will ensure there is a broad range of experience and knowledge to draw on,’ Councillor Burns said.
