Wollondilly Council is excited to present the popular free SustainaDilly workshop series online this month through the Library Facebook page, helping participants become more sustainable and productive at home.

The workshop topics will include Composting and Worm Farming, Plant Propagation, Vegetable Gardening, Creating a Native Garden and Chicken Keeping. These live presentations will help residents reduce their food waste, grow fresh produce at home and support local wildlife. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions during the workshops.

Mayor Matthew Deeth said, “These workshops are always very popular, so we have decided to take them online so that the community can still be involved, despite COVID-19 restrictions.” “Residents should also check out Council’s Sustainable Living Guide, which provides loads of great tips and simple actions to create a more sustainable lifestyle,” he said.

Dates for the workshops are as follows:

Composting and Worm Farming – Wednesday 19 August Learn how to create and maintain your own compost and worm farm at home. Turn your kitchen and garden waste into nutrient rich compost for a thriving garden.

Plant Propagation – Wednesday 2 September Learn how to successfully propagate plants from seeds and cuttings, using a variety of techniques.

No Dig Vegetable Gardening and Guild Planting – Wednesday 16 September Learn how to grow a wide variety of seasonal vegetables and herbs organically using the no dig gardening and guild planting techniques. Native Gardening and Wildlife Habitat at Home – Wednesday 30 September Learn how to design and plant a successful native garden at home that helps support local wildlife.
