Pomona Road Roundabout Upgrade

In December 2019, Council approved the tender for Crossroads Civil Contracting to upgrade the Pomona Road Roundabout at the intersection with Tamar Rise in Riverside, to renew ageing infrastructure and improve the safety and amenity for pedestrians and road-users.

Work was undertaken between February and June 2020 which included optimising the existing roundabout to achieve improved efficiency.

This was achieved by relocating underground and above ground services, realignment of kerb and channel, and footpath works. The project also included relocating and replacing the existing W-beam guard rail, road pavement reconstruction and landscaping.

Pomona Road is an arterial road which delivers traffic to West Tamar Road from many collector roads. In the local context, Pomona Road has high traffic volumes during peak hours, as well as being a Metro bus route. Our contractor worked hard to ensure minimal disruptions to traffic flow for the duration of works, which resulted in the project taking a little longer than expected.
