Local Law No. 2 (Neighbourhood Amenity) is up for review and we want feedback on the issues that you want Council to enforce in Bayside.
From trees to rubbish to parking to pets, Bayside’s Local Law No. 2 covers a wide range of topics and empowers Council to respond to local issues and protect public and private spaces, and health and safety.
Visit the Local Law No.2 Have Your Say webpage to share your feedback on the current Local Law No. 2 (Parts 5 to 9), and eight new local law ideas that have been raised by some residents, including through petitions to Council. These new ideas will only be considered by Council if they receive strong community support. You can have your say here.
Along with measuring support for new ideas, feedback from this initial consultation will help Council consider emerging issues and ensure the local laws remain comprehensive.
New ideas being consulted on include:
Preventing long-term parking of trailers, caravans and boats Banning outdoor solid-fuel cooking and heating Preventing derelict and abandoned buildings Controlling mobile billboard advertising Permits for shared transport services, such as e-bikes/scooters Preventing dumped shopping trolleys Permits to fly drones over Council land Extending the beach smoking ban to include all foreshore areas.Local Law No. 2 is only reviewed every 10 years, so this consultation is an important opportunity have your say. We are not seeking feedback on enforcement matters, including patrols or fines, or the policies and processes which sit underneath the local law, as part of this consultation.
After considering the feedback from this consultation, we’ll be seeking feedback on the revised Local Law No. 2 early next year, ahead of its planned adoption in June 2021.
