Safety around our waterways will be given a further boost as we approach the warmer months with 22 new Beach Emergency Numbers (BEN) signs installed throughout the Shire.

Each BEN sign has a unique code to help emergency services pinpoint exact locations and improve crucial response times for a range of potentially serious incidents.

Signs have been installed at the following locations:

Myalup Beach. Binningup Beach. Belvidere Beach. Ridley Place Foreshore. Leschenault Estuary. Australind Bridge.

The State Government started the BEN sign program in December 2017, as an initiative of Rick Gerring, brother of Ben Gerring who lost his life after a shark bite incident in 2016.
