Time running out to apply for a Community Grant

Published on 14 August 2020

Community groups and organisations have until 5pm on Monday, 24 August to apply for support from Council’s 2020 Community Grants Program.

One of the key features of Council’s 2020/2021 Budget, up to $5,000 per application is available to support local projects, events and activities to be implemented over the upcoming twelve months.

“Numerous community groups and organisations have contacted Council since applications opened in late July to discuss project ideas, which shows the popularity of this program,” Mayor Lorraine Learmonth said.

“It does not matter whether your community group or organisation is seeking support for facility upgrades, the purchasing of materials for projects or enabling a community event to proceed in a COVIDSafe manner, please consider applying.”

Grant applications can be submitted through the online SmartyGrants system, accessible via www.gsc.vic.gov.au/grants, under the following categories:

“Council’s Community Grants Program is designed to complement the Gannawarra Shire Council Plan 2017-2021 and help fund community goals for the nine towns and districts located across the Gannawarra,” Mayor Learmonth said.

“Groups looking to apply for funding are urged to first refer to the Council Plan, which can be viewed on Council’s website, and their relevant community profile to ensure their project complements the priorities of the community and Council.

“Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact Council to discuss a project idea before submitting a grant application.”
