ICYMI, we’re reviewing the Local Law No. 2 and eight new ideas received from residents, which – if supported by the community – could be considered for inclusion in the draft revised Local Law No. 2.
One idea which has attracted a lot of attention is a ban on the burning of solid fuel outdoors for cooking and heating.
The idea would apply to the burning of wood or charcoal in firepits, chimineas, and/or BBQs within Bayside. This idea for an outdoor solid fuel ban came from a 2018 petition, which Council resolved to consider as part of the next Local Law review. Only ideas with strong community support will progress to being considered by Council for inclusion in the draft revised Local Law.
We want to hear what the community think about Part 5-9 of the existing Local Law No. 2, and measure community support or opposition for eight new ideas from residents, before we consider including any new idea in the draft revised Local Law No. 2.
Have your say via the online survey or look out for the reply-paid survey in the next issue of Let’s Talk Bayside magazine, which will be delivered to every Bayside household soon.
This initial consultation closes on 10 September. There will be further consultation on the draft revised Local Law No. 2 early next year.
