Wyndham City Council is inviting the community to participate in a WYNtalk event, where global and local ideas unite to inspire us to navigate these difficult times and set us up for success in the rest of the 2020s.
The first WYNtalk of 2020 “Don’t just Rebuild, Re-Imagine” is Wyndham City’s headline act for the Global Learning Festival in September.
Learning City portfolio holder and Wyndham City Mayor Cr Josh Gilligan said the talk will address the global COVID-19 pandemic and highlight tangible ways this time of change can create opportunities for positive change on a local scale.
“While we are being forced to slow our lives down to tackle this pandemic, we can use this time to re-imagine aspects of our society and take steps to improve our lifestyles and local environment and this will be discussed at our first 2020 WYNtalk,” Cr Gilligan said.
“We are inviting all residents, business professionals, politicians, educators, decision-makers, and lateral thinkers to join in the interactive discussions and help us create a vision to reimagine Wyndham and our state.”
“The panel will include Wyndham City’s Director City Design and Liveability, Ludo Campbell-Reid, one of Australia’s workplace culture and customer care experts, Steve Simpson, and futurist and best-selling author Graeme Codrington, who will provide insightful and pragmatic suggestions on how we as a community can adapt to the rapidly changing world we find ourselves in and how we can all contribute to reshaping our post COVID-19 world.”
“Graeme Codrington is based in Johannesburg and runs a company called Tomorrow, Today, helping clients to anticipate the future and decide what changes they may need to implement today to prepare for those changes.”
“Steve Simpson will be speaking about why workplace culture is so important in times of crisis and beyond and what it means to individuals, organisations, and the wider community.”
“Ludo Campbell-Reid has spent the last 30 years changing cities and is now focused on ways to improve Wyndham’s liveability.”
Mr Campbell-Reid said Wyndham faced some deep systemic problems due to its low density sprawling residential environment and wanted community input on how to make the suburban area feel more urban.
“WynTalk offers an opportunity to embrace the amazing culture of Wyndham and work together to make serious decisions about its future – and the way we live, work and play,” Mr Campbell-Reid said.
“The business and education communities can begin their re-imagining process and figure out what their workforce, business plans, and ways of teaching will look like post pandemic.”
