Toowoomba artist Nathaniel Kemp has unveiled a new body of work NK Alan ceramics and drawing at the Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery, which is on display until 23 August 2020.
Nathaniel said his solo exhibition highlighted the relationship between nature and constructed architecture and presented a visual journey into his creative process.
The artist said he focused significantly on the bunya pine, as well as Queensland and western architecture.
“I find beauty in the structure of the bunya pine tree and its cones and this fuels my obsession,” he said.
The ceramics on display examine the shape and structure of bunya pine cones and Nathaniel plays with their likeness in a witty manner.
He continues his playful manner throughout his imaginative and other-worldly drawings, which reference both his love of bunya pines and architecture.
Nathaniel lives and creates his works in the Toowoomba Region and recently completed his Bachelor of Creative Arts at the University of Southern Queensland.
Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery is open from 10.30am to 3.30pm Tuesday to Saturday and Sunday from 1pm to 4pm.
