Not-for-profit groups and organisations can now apply for grants of up to $500 to help with hosting activities that celebrate NAIDOC Week this year.

National Aboriginal and Islander Day Observance Committee (NAIDOC) Week provides a special opportunity to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, culture and achievements.

Normally held in July, NAIDOC Week was postponed this year due to COVID-19. It will now be held 8-15 November with the theme ‘Always Was, Always Will Be'.

Eurobodalla Council offers NAIDOC Week activity grants of up to $500 to community groups, schools and non-profit organisations every year. Activities funded in 2019 include cultural fishing days, the Sista Speak women’s self-esteem building project, Elders luncheons, flag raising ceremonies, sports days, Aboriginal art workshops and cultural awareness programs.

Applications for the 2020 grants open Tuesday 18 August and close 1pm Wednesday 9 September 2020. Events should be COVID Safe and follow the relevant guidelines from NSW Health.
