The Victorian Government has changed the permit requirements for clearing vegetation near your home

Clearing trees, bushes and other plants near your home is a common activity in many parts of Point Lonsdale and Queenscliff. But depending on where the vegetation is located, you made need a permit to remove it. The Victorian Government has recently changed the rules around when you need to get a permit to clear vegetation near your home, and these changes mean many homeowners in the Borough will need a permit to clear vegetation.

Previously, most property owners everywhere in Victoria could clear trees within 10 metres of their home or other vegetation within 30 metres of their home without needing a permit. Under the new rules, only accommodation buildings located in a designated bushfire prone area are able to remove this vegetation without a permit. Because most homes within the Borough are not located in a bushfire prone area, clearing vegetation near your home may now require a permit.
