Library lovers have yet another reason to visit Snowy Monaro Regional Library following the addition of two new interactive hubs.
Bombala and Cooma libraries are now each home to a large screen, smart TV that will enhance the digital skills of library users and allow staff greater access to online resources.
Library goers of all ages will benefit from interactive TVs with the new technology offering a range of educational opportunities for children. From trivia teasers to piano performances, the TVs will help children improve their painting, mathematical and problem-solving skills.
“Our libraries are fantastic places and the addition of these interactive TVs will further enhance the services they offer,” Snowy Monaro Regional Council Mayor Peter Beer said.
When COVID-19 restrictions are eased, community members will be able to use the new TVs with the popular Tech Savvy Seniors classes set to put their skills to the test on these larger screens.
Staff have been participating in online training classes to learn more about the interactive hubs. The TVs will be used to host online events and when in-house library events resume, the hubs will be a welcome addition for presentations and book launches.
“Library staff have done a wonderful job adapting to the COVID-19 restrictions and offering a greater range of online services,” Mayor Beer said.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, all in-house library programs and events have been temporarily suspended.
Snowy Monaro Regional Library boasts a wonderful collection of electronic resources and all school holiday programs have moved online. To view this collection and to participate in holiday programs, the community can visit the Snowy Monaro Regional Council website or library Facebook page.
The interactive hubs were delivered through funding from the State Library’s Local Priority fund.
