As part of Activate Wollondilly 2020, Council will be holding five Bushfire Community Forums during September to seek feedback on the recovery actions undertaken following the Green Wattle Creek fires.

Activate Wollondilly focuses on key priority areas to support disaster resilience, to communicate and educate people about risks and to lead change to reinforce resilience and the preparedness of the community.

The forums will be facilitated by Anne Leadbeater OAM, survivor of the 2009 Black Saturday Victorian bushfires and an expert in disaster recovery and community resilience.

Wollondilly Mayor Matthew Deeth said, “We are holding these forums to gain feedback from community members who were impacted by the bushfires, whether those impacts were direct or indirect, so we can be better prepared for future disasters.”

“We are very fortunate to have Anne Leadbeater OAM facilitating these forums,” he said.

The forums will be held from 6pm till 8pm in the following locations:

2 September – Oakdale Uniting Church Hall 10 September – Bargo Community Hall 17 September – Warragamba Town Hall 23 September – Buxton Public School Hall 30 September – Council Administration Building Picton

Participants can attend via ZOOM or face to face at each location. A ZOOM link will be sent to registered participants.

For the safety of all attendees, COVID restrictions will be enforced at these sessions.

Participants are required to register their attendance at [email protected] or by telephone 4677 9611.
