The Queensland Government has introduced border control measures at its State borders.
These included establishing a border zone which incorporates communities on both the Queensland and NSW sides of the border. Residents in these border zones often live on one side of the border but work or go to school on the other side of the border.
Queensland border zone residents cannot travel outside the border zone in New South Wales (but can travel anywhere within Queensland) and New South Wales border zone residents cannot travel outside the border zone in either Queensland or New South Wales.
After some initial omissions from the border zone, including the area around Urbenville, the border zone has been updated. To view the updated border zones, click here.
Border zone residents can cross the border for any purpose. However, even in you live in a border zone, you must still apply for a Queensland Border Declaration Pass to enter Queensland.
