Over the next 12-month period, Council with the financial support of the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment will be developing a Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan. The study and plan will consider the potential flood risks and balance these against the beneficial use of the floodplain by development, taking into consideration the environmental, social, economic and financial issues.

As part of the process in creating the study, Lyall & Associates have developed a Questionnaire to gauge community interest in flood planning controls. Feedback from the questionnaire will assist in how Council will develop policies and strategies to better protect the community and current and future development from flood events.

The questionnaire can be filled in online at http://www.haveyoursay.lithgow.com/floodplain-risk-management. Submissions will be accepted by Council up until the close of business on the 28th August 2020.
