The winner of the $20,000 Pro Hart Outback Art Prize will be announced via video on Facebook this year.
The official prize announcements will be premiering online at 6:30pm (ACST) on September 4 via the Broken Hill Regional Art Gallery's Facebook Page.
A large crowd usually packs the gallery for the announcement of the winner, however Mayor Darriea Turley AM said COVID-19 restrictions had forced staff to make alternative arrangements.
"We might not be able to hold our usual gala evening event, but we can still provide a great night for the city's art enthusiasts via the internet," said Mayor Turley.
"People will be able to view the artworks online, watch the announcement of the winner, and vote for the People's Choice Award.
"We invite everyone to tune in for the online program to celebrate the 2020 finalists and winner."
The show will also be open to the public at the gallery from September 4 until November 14 between 10am and 3pm, using a timed-entry ticket system.
10-person sessions are available for 10am, 11am, 12pm, 1pm and 2pm and tickets can be booked online or by calling the Gallery on 08 8080 3444.
A high volume of visitors are expected for this exhibition, and those interested are encouraged to book tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.
The Pro Hart Outback Art Prize is supported by the Hart family and Broken Hill City Council.
