Have your say on Granville's $8.6 million transformation

City of Parramatta Council is inviting the community to have their say on the draft concept plan for the $8.6 million revitalisation of Good and Bridge Streets in Granville.

The draft plan proposes a number of upgrades including tree planting, new footpaths and street furniture, better paths for walking and cycling, changed traffic flow to facilitate pedestrian safety, and the installation of multipurpose smart poles and lights. 

"Their draft concept plan has been developed after extensive consultation with the local community in June 2019," City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Bob Dwyer said. 

"We've taken on board the ideas we've received from our local residents and business owners in the drafting of this concept plan and are now inviting everyone to once again have their say before we embark on this important upgrade."

The upgrades to Good and Bridge Streets, located on the northern side of Granville Station, are set to offer residents, workers and visitors improved public spaces, safety, and amenity, while still preserving the heritage of Granville. 

"This exciting project, which includes the installation of 'Smart Street' elements such as free public 'Wi-Fi, USB charging ports, smart bins and light installations, will improve the streets' accessiblity, connectivity and safety. It will also enhance the look and feel of the area," Cr Dwyer said.

The upgrade is funded by an $8.6 million infrastructure grant from the NSW Government as part of its Parramatta Road Urban Amenity Improvement Program, an initiative to transform Parramatta Road and its surrounding precincts into high quality, attractive and amenable spaces for the community. 

All submissions must be received by 4pm Monday 14 September 2020.
