The Shire of Coolgardie has partnered with the Kalgoorlie Boulder Volunteer Centre (KBVC) to bring local volunteering opportunities to residents.During the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Shire noticed a significant increase in enquiries from locals asking how they can assist and give back to their communities.
The partnership with KBVC will help the Shire direct local residents to exciting volunteering opportunities within Coolgardie and Kambalda.
Shire President, Malcolm Cullen said the Shire was proud to support local volunteering opportunities.
“By establishing a partnership with the Kalgoorlie Boulder Volunteer Centre, we can ensure those keen to volunteer can do so within the Shire,” said Cr Cullen.
“Locals will also be able to volunteer for our popular Meals On Wheels service, which has been running since April this year and we are now serving over 130 meals per week in Kambalda and Coolgardie.”
“Volunteering is a great way to give back to the community, help others, meet new people and learn new skills. We have plenty of opportunities available and our partnership with the KBVC will assist us in attracting volunteers into these positions.”Kalgoorlie Boulder Volunteer Centre Coordinator, Courtney Martin said the organisation aims to bring positive and enduring community change through volunteerism.
“As the Volunteering Hub of the Goldfields, we interview and refer appropriate volunteers to organisations. We also promote volunteering in the community and provide support and training to both volunteers and organisations that use the volunteers.”To register for volunteering opportunities within Coolgardie and Kambalda, visit our Volunteering page.
