A second round of live testing of nine outdoor early warning stations installed as part of Council’s Copperlode Falls Dam Emergency Action Plan has been scheduled for September 24.
Due to travel restrictions associated with COVID-19 to allow specialist staff from the contractor to travel to Cairns, the final commissioning and testing of the sirens has been significantly delayed.
Initial live testing of the installed system was undertaken on October 9, 2019.
An assessment of the live testing revealed some adjustment to the system at some stations was required, followed by another round of testing.
The live testing will be conducted during the school holidays in response from the community feedback the previous live testing exercise.
Public notification will commence in the weeks leading up to the live testing.
