Council is excited to announce the first stage of a redevelopment at the Noble Park Aquatic Centre.
We have received a $3.3 million grant from the Victorian Government’s Community Sports Infrastructure Stimulus Program for the development of a health and wellbeing gymnasium at the centre.
The gym was a key recommendation from Council’s Aquatic Strategy which was adopted following extensive community consultation in September 2019.
The two-storey extension to the existing building will include a large gymnasium, three program/group fitness rooms, change rooms, administration and storage areas and provision for 24/7 access.
In addition to planning for the NPAC redevelopment, Council has been planning for a new aquatic and wellbeing centre to replace Dandenong Oasis. This project remains a high priority for Council with a business case for the new centre currently underway and funding in place to commence a detailed design process in the new year.
Despite our focus on Dandenong Oasis, Council was able to move ahead with the NPAC project after receiving immediate funding under a State Government stimulus program – which required projects to be completed in a short timeframe.
Council is now seeking community feedback on the draft design of the NPAC Health and Wellbeing Gymnasium. Plans can be viewed here and are open for feedback until 5pm on Wednesday 9 September.
