With an early burst of summer weather set to warm up our weekend, Council is urging beachgoers to be mindful of the risk of COVID-19, ensure they maintain 1.5m social distancing and limit gatherings to 20 people.

NSW Police Deputy Commissioner has confirmed that police will be patrolling coastline areas and making sure people are sticking to the rules, alongside our rangers and lifeguards.

With small clusters of COVID-19 around Sydney it's important everyone maintains COVID-safe distances to prevent the spread.

Red and yellow flags will start the season at Freshwater and Dee Why this weekend with Manly maintaining patrols all year round.

The rest of Council’s surf beaches will be patrolled from late September with the assistance of volunteer lifesavers on weekends and public holidays.

Despite the warm weather, the water is still a chilly 16 degrees.

Lifeguards will be reminding swimmers and beachgoers of the COVID-Safe regulations via the public address systems at the beaches and there will be signs at various points across the area.
