Free online tutoring

​Qualified tutors are back and offering free homework help for students at the City of Canterbury Bankstown Libraries.

The Homework Help program has resumed with a shift to online sessions, making the service more convenient and accessibile for young families with children aged 5-12 years.

“We know how important education is so I’m glad tutors are available to students in new ways, given the disruptions to learning we’ve seen this year,” Mayor Khal Asfour said.

Tutors will help support students with school work twice a week, from 4-7pm in the COVIDSafe digital setting.

“Every time we run this program it has attracted strong demand, and we’ve seen how it’s made significant differences to those seeking help,” Mayor Asfour said.

“We’re asking people to book ahead of time to make it fair, safe and accessbile for everyone, as there is a limited number of available spots in each one hour session.”

HSC Study Sessions have also been made available at the Bankstown Library and Knowledge Centre. It will run until the end of October, due to community requests. Mayor Asfour said the HSC study sessions will continue to help HSC students prepare for their exams.

“Considering these sessions aren’t typically available until October, we are responding to the demand from parents and young people and making them available now,” he said.

Council continues to run many of its regular Library programs with changes in its method of delivery. Many programs, such as Baby Rhyme Time and Preschool Storytime, have now been made available to the community through CBTV, Council’s online digital channel.
