Grants for Small Arts Project Grants Closing Friday

Published on 01 September 2020

Are you an artist, musician or creatively-inspired local resident who wants to spread some hope and joy to the community either online or in public spaces?

Colac Otway Shire Council wants to inspire and financially support your project and we are urging anyone with an idea, which can be completed in accordance with social distancing requirements and any other relevant permit requirements, to apply for a Small Arts Project Grant today.

Council’s Development & Community Services Ian Seuren said the new COVID-Support funding program offered up to $3000 to support local creatives with a matching contribution from the applicant on a dollar-for-dollar cash or in-kind basis.

“Carrying out the projects will provide a real boost for those involved, and the end result will be fantastic for the community now and possibly for years to come, potentially inspiring other community arts projects,” Mr Seuren said.

“Colac Otway Shire has a diverse and rapidly growing arts community, with innovative ideas and skills; and we are looking forward to looking at the proposals which develop through Council’s new grants program.

“The program is being funded through this year’s budget and aims to help our community respond to the impacts of the COVID19 situation.”

Examples of activities that can be considered as part of this funding stream would include:

Place making activities that lift spirits and create hope in the community. Projects that respond to the COVID-19 situation through the arts. Projects that build connection and engagement through arts and cultural activities. Live music performances and music ventures that showcase local creatives in a COVID safe way. Arts and culture projects that are accessible to community in innovative ways. Creative projects that use new ways to engage audiences using public spaces e.g. mural making, yarn bombing, digital delivery of events. Equipment purchases can be included in grant applications as a part of the application budget, but must not be the sole purpose or main costing within the application.

Successful grant projects must be completed by 30 April 2021.For all the details, including program guidelines and how to apply, please visit https://www.colacotway.vic.gov.au/Community-services/Coronavirus-Information-Resources/Coronavirus-Business-Support-Grants-Program or call Colac Otway’s Economic Development Team on 5232 9400.
