The Kuranda and Mareeba Sewer Pump Station Refurbishment Project will commence in Kuranda on Wednesday 9 September 2020.

Nightworks are scheduled to commence from Friday 11 September on five sites requiring construction of the bypass injection points. These works are expected to take up to six working days to complete. As this part of the project is required to be carried out under a live shut of the sewer pump stations,  works will be undertaken between 9pm and 4am to minimise the risk of overflow. Machinery noise will be kept to a minimum wherever possible as most of the preparation work will be carried out during the day.

The 5 sites requiring night works include:

Gully Pump Station – adjacent the Kennedy Highway, behind the Kuranda Heritage markets, Birdworld and Koala Gardens Honey House Pump Station – At the end of the cul-de-sac on lower Therwine Street, behind the original Kuranda Markets near the western approach to the Barron River bridge Jumrum Pump Station – Barron Falls Rd, near Monty Street intersection (opposite the amphitheatre entrance) Kullaroo Pump Station– end of Kullaroo Close Tully Court Pump Station – end of Tully Court
