Wyndham City 3 Sep 2020

While school holidays look a little different this year, Wyndham City is bringing young people free activities to keep busy during the break.

Learning City portfolio holder and Wyndham City’s Mayor Cr Josh Gilligan said our months of COVID-19 restrictions have been tough on young people.

“It’s important for everyone to maintain a connection with friends and take part in community events and sports, but these last few weeks have halted many of our usual activities,” Cr Gilligan said.

“For teenagers, such interaction is vital for their social development and sense of wellbeing, so we want to continue to provide fun activities for our young people to enjoy, while keeping safe.”

“That’s why we are delivering our usual holiday programs through Microsoft Teams this year.”

Free programs include:

DIY Face Masks and Scrubs: Teenagers can make their own natural face mask and body scrub using products from the kitchen. A free pack will be given to participants. Cookie and Gingerbread Making with Kate: Dust off you apron and get ready to impress the family with your cookie-making skills after Kate’s live tutorial. Hip Hop Class: Teens will have the opportunity to practise their dance skills from the comfort of their own homes with this online class. Boxing: Get a free skipping rope and exercise mat when you sign up for this energetic boxing class. DIY Mosaics with Bianca: Bianca will help young people create their own tile mosaics. A free pack will be supplied following enrolment.

All events run from 22nd September to 30th September and are run through Microsoft Teams.

Free packs can be collected from the Youth resource Centre 86 Derrimut Road, Hopers Crossing between 15th and 18th September 2020 from 9am to 5pm.
