Council is calling for cinema operators interested in hosting a drive-in cinema in Campbelltown to put in an expression of interest.

Council will partner with the cinema operator to provide in-kind venue hire and offer advertising and marketing support.

The Leumeah Station commuter car park has been identified as a suitable location due to reduced public transport usage but interested operators are invited to offer their own suggestions.

Mayor George Brticevic said a drive-in cinema would offer a fun and exciting entertainment attraction in Campbelltown.

“Throughout the COVID health situation we’ve been looking at ways to hold community events that offer something new for our residents while remaining safe in line with current health guidelines,” Cr Brticevic said.

“There will be a lot of people in our community who have fond memories of the drive-in cinema when they were young and it will be great to see many of our parents be able to take their kids to a drive-in cinema in Campbelltown,” he said.

Expressions of interest close on 25 September.
