At the Council Meeting on Monday night, Council adopted two documents which outline our achievements over the 4 year Council Term and for the 2019/20 financial year.
Maroondah Mayor Councillor Mike Symon said it was heartening to look back over all of Council’s achievements for the community.
“Over the 2016-2020 Council Term, Council has delivered a wide range of projects and services for our Maroondah community. The Our Achievements 2016-2020 Council Term document and Our Achievements 2019/20 provide a summary of all of these services, projects and initiatives,” Cr Symon said.
“While the past six months have been dominated by our response to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is very easy to forget all of the other achievements we have made along the way,” Cr Symon said.
“Among these achievements, is the design and construction the $16.5m Maroondah Nets multi-sports complex in Heathmont, the construction of the $1.7m Tony Lethbridge Athletics Pavilion at Proclamation Park in Ringwood, the $1.3m Croydon Park football and cricket pavilion, and the $4.25m HE Parker Sporting Pavilion in Heathmont,’ Cr Symon said.
“We have also continued to plan for our community with the adoption of a new Maroondah Health and Wellbeing Plan 2017-2021, undertaken an interim review of Maroondah 2040: Our future together, and developed a new Children and Families Strategy,” Cr Symon said.
“In Ringwood we adopted the Ringwood Metropolitan Activity Centre Masterplan and prepared changes to the Maroondah Planning Scheme; and in Croydon we constructed the $2m Croydon Town Square and undertook community consultation and developed a Masterplan for the Croydon Community Wellbeing Precinct,” Cr Symon said.
“These are just a snapshot of what we have achieved, on top of provided the more than 120 services we provide to the community,” Cr Symon said.
“It is wonderful to have a record of the extent of what has been accomplished to ensure our City, and the Maroondah community, continues to be active, prosperous, vibrant, sustainable, accessible, thriving, inclusive and empowered,” Cr Symon said.
