When will playgrounds reopen? Update on stage 4 restrictions

Monday 07 September 2020

Update: New Stage 4 restrictions are now in place – read how this affects our services.

Yesterday, the Premier provided an update on stage 4 restrictions to curb the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) across our communities.

From 11:59pm on 13 September, stage 4 restrictions will change slightly.

What is changing?

Not much is changing. You will still be required to wear a face mask.

From 11:59pm on 13 September the curfew will ease to 9pm every evening until 5am the next morning.

During this time, you’ll still only be allowed to leave your home for essential work, health, care or safety reasons. You still must not travel more than 5km from where you live.

Two people, or a household, may now meet outdoors for two hours maximum (this can be split over two sessions).

If you live alone or are a single parent of children under the age of 18 you can have one nominated visitor in your home.

Visit the DHHS coronavirus website for full details on these new restrictions.

Parks and playgrounds

From 11:59pm on 13 September, you, your household, or you and one other from another household may meet in parks, without needing to exercise. Playgrounds will also reopen.

Please remember to continue wearing masks, practising good hand hygiene and maintaining social distancing.

We’re still here for you

You can be assured that we’ll continue to deliver the essential services Yarra needs to keep moving. However, there are likely to be more impacts to our programs and services – we’ll update you on this as we know more.

Please be kind to each other, and check in on your friends, family and neighbours as often as you can. Stick to the rules and wear a mask or face covering if you do have to go out for one of the permitted reasons.
