The centrepiece of Council’s Christmas in the City festivities will have a new home this year.
Council’s Christmas tree, usually erected on the Cairns Esplanade, is set for a move to Shields St this year to accommodate works associated with the Esplanade Dining Precinct and the Lagoon Plaza renewal.
Moving the tree to Shields St will enable families to experience the joy of the approaching Christmas festivities and potentially support local businesses in the city.
* This resolution from today’s Community, Sport, Events and Cultural Services Committee meeting needs to be ratified at the next Ordinary Meeting of Council, to be held on 23 September 2020.
