Council will apply for $180,000 in government funding to stage live entertainment events at three local venues.
A $100,000 submission will be made to the Australian Government’s Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communication grant, for live music events at Tanks Arts Centre and Munro Martin Parklands.
A second submission of $80,000 will be made to Arts Queensland’s Arts and Cultural Recovery Package grant ‘Open Air’, to stage a series of performances on the Courthouse front lawn once the venue is open.
Both projects will contribute to the recovery of the region, which has been severely impacted by the COVID crisis, though employment opportunities and the development of partnerships and networks in the arts industry.
With the arts sector widely regarded as one of the hardest hit industries across the nation, these projects also hope to re-engage regional artists and audiences.
