Audiences across Western Queensland will flip out when arTour and Flipside Circus roll out one of the first large-scale arts and entertainment tours since COVID-19 hit. arTour, the state's leading contemporary touring company, has teamed up with Flipside Circus, Queensland's largest youth arts company, to present their community youth engagement program from September to November. Flipside Circus has tailored its program of youth workshops to present a unique two-day training residency in 10 western Queensland communities, which will culminate in a performance starring the participants. Flipside Circus CEO and Creative Director Robert Kronk said the all-abilities workshops were designed for young people aged two to 18. "Flipside Circus trainers will help children learn new circus skills and give them a chance to show off a new trick or talent, be it hula-hooping, juggling, acro-balance, tumbling or even trapeze," Mr Kronk said. "More than that, these workshops will challenge children to work as a team, build their self-confidence and increase their skill and fitness levels." arTour Producer Laura Bonner said it was exciting to once again hit the road to bring arts and entertainment to regional and remote Queensland for the first time since March. "The arts play a vital role in engaging communities and arTour has a proud history of using performance to connect audiences and venues across the state with fresh ideas, cultural vibrancy and talented artists," Ms Bonner said. "This trailblazing tour with Flipside Circus is a positive indicator of Queensland's post-COVID recovery and a hopeful sign of more regional tours and performances to come." Mr Kronk said Flipside Circus safely operated Queensland's largest circus school in Brisbane and assured participants it followed strict COVID Safe measures to ensure the wellbeing of all participants. Flipside Circus will tour the following venues: JULIA CREEK, McKinlay Shire Civic Centre - 19/9 to 20/09 WINTON, Winton Shire Hall - 23/09 to 24/09 BOULIA, Boulia Shire Hall - 26/09 to 27/09 BARCOO SHIRE, Jundah Town Hall, 30/09 to 01/10 QUILPIE, Quilpie Shire Hall - 03/10 to 04/10 TAMBO, Tambo Shire Hall - 07/10 BLACKALL, Blackall Cultural Centre - 09/10 LONGREACH Civic and Cultural Centre, - 12/10 to 13/10 READ ALSO: Kath McQueen mixes with the boys in broncs While you are here, subscribe to our weekly email delivered to your inbox every Tuesday and Friday.
