Toowoomba Regional Council will temporarily close Fernbank Road, between Oaklands Road and Northview Road, Cabarlah from 7.00 am 14 September for approximately one month. The temporary road closure will allow for the upgrading of the road to a sealed surface to improve safety and reduce dust problems.

TRC Chair of Infrastructure Services Committee, Cr Carol Taylor said the works would include reconfiguring the intersection of Fernbank and Oaklands Roads, allowing priority to traffic along Fernbank Road

“Construction is expected to be completed by mid-October, weather permitting, and Council will seek to minimise any community impacts,” Cr Taylor said.

“A detour set up via New England Highway; however, local access will be maintained.

“Works will be undertaken under the guidance of Environmental Consultants with a Fauna Spotter being on-site as well as water trucks for dust mitigation.

Cr Taylor said that during the construction period, traffic management and detours would be in place for the safety of work crews and motorists.

“Council asks the community to please drive to conditions and be aware that temporary changes to traffic flow will occur,” Cr Taylor said.

“Construction work will take place generally between the hours of 6.30 am – 6.30 pm on weekdays, and we apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience during construction.”

“There may be a requirement to undertake some weekend works. Council will seek to minimise disruptions where possible.

“Council thanks the community for their patience and co-operation during these works.”
