To keep our community up to date with key Council decisions, outcomes and plans; here is a snapshot summary from Council’s Wednesday 9 August 2020 ordinary meeting.
Vibrant Communities Council approved a nine year lease with the Baw Baw Old Engine and Auto Club. Council accepted the offer from Scouts Victoria to purchase the land at 69A Bowen Street, Warragul, utilising funds from existing reserves with any additional funds reallocated in the mid-year budget review. Noting that the purchase of land is dependant upon Scouts Victoria completing the creation of the proposed lot. Council approved Planning Application PLA0353/18 and issued a permit for building works to construct a replacement dwelling at 562 Grand Ridge Road, Seaview. Council adopted the position, that in its current form, it does not support approval of Planning Application PLA0012/20 for a service station in Yarragon. Council acknowledged the Warragul Parking Community Panel participants for their participation and investment of time throughout the consultation process and; Endorsed the delivery of way-finding signage, parking restriction changes and walking and cycling improvements on Mason and Gladstone Streets during the 2020/21 financial year and; Moved to refer the Warragul Parking Community Panel's recommendation of support for increased parking enforcement, community bus service, cash in lieu scheme and parking overlay expansion for a feasibility assessment and further investigation and; Endorsed the Warragul Parking Community Panel's recommendation of not supporting the construction of a multi-deck car park and implementation of paid parking. Endorsed the townships of Aberfeldy, Longwarry North, Modella and Seaview to be the focus of Council's 2020/21 Placemaking Program What's next?The next Council meeting will be from 5.30pm on Wednesday 23 September at the West Gippsland Arts Centre.
As of 11.59pm on Wednesday 5 August 2020, Council meetings are no longer open to members of the public due to COVID-19 and Stage 3 Stay at Home restrictions in regional Victoria. Meetings will remain available to the public via live stream, and community submissions can be made in writing.
