Western Queensland, ready to flip out? arTour and Flipside Circus are rolling out one of the first large-scale arts and entertainment tours since the beginning of the COVID era.

Queensland contemporary touring company arTour, has teamed up with Flipside Circus, Queensland youth arts company, to present their community youth engagement programme.

Flipside's youth workshops have been tailored to present a two-day training residency in ten western Queensland communities, culminating in a performance starring the residency's participants.

"Flipside Circus trainers will help children learn new circus skills and give them a chance to show off a new trick or talent, be it hula-hooping, juggling, acro-balance, tumbling or even trapeze," Flipside Circus CEO and Creative Director Robert Kronk says.

"More than that, these workshops will challenge children to work as a team, build their self-confidence and increase their skill and fitness levels."

Meanwhile, arTour Producer Laura Bonner says it's exciting to be able to bring arts and entertainment to regional and remote Queensland for the first time in a while.

"The arts play a vital role in engaging communities and arTour has a proud history of using performance to connect audiences and venues across the state with fresh ideas, cultural vibrancy and talented artists," Laura says.

"This trailblazing tour with Flipside Circus is a positive indicator of Queensland’s post-COVID recovery and a hopeful sign of more regional tours and performances to come."
