Back by popular demand this school holiday! The Good Foundation, in collaboration with Toowoomba Regional Council’s (TRC) The CHANGE Project, will return to deliver a Springtime Jamie Oliver’s Learn Your Fruit & Veg Online Program. The hands-on cooking and food education will begin on Monday 28 September for four days.
TRC Portfolio Leader for Environment and Community Services, Cr Tim McMahon said it was delightful that residents had another bite at the fruitful fresh food course this school holidays.
“We’re excited to launch our first Jamie Oliver’s Learn your Fruit and Veg program online children’s program during the school holidays,” Cr McMahon said.
“The children’s course is a hands-on cooking and food education experience, specifically for children 3 to 12 years.
“The course provides 30-minute sessions run over four consecutive days at 11.00 am to 11.30 am from Monday 28 September 2020 to Thursday 1 October 2020.
“Each session focuses on a hero fruit or vegetable, bringing it to life by learning to cook a non-heat Jamie Oliver recipe featuring the hero ingredient.
“It’s the perfect opportunity for families to spend some time together, get their hands messy and have fun in the kitchen.
"The cost of the program is $20 for four sessions. Toowoomba Regional Council is also offering it through Council's CHANGE Project, to ** eligible groups (including participant’s carers) for $5 per child for the four-session course.
"Bookings are essential, and registrations are now open until Friday 25 September for the children’s course.

Cr McMahon said providing accessible opportunities for children to learn about healthy eating was of particular importance across our region.
“With only 23% of children eating enough vegetables for health benefits and over 50% of children eating fast food or takeaway every week,” Cr McMahon said.
Cr McMahon said Council's award-winning CHANGE Project has several low-cost and free programs offering simple tips that promote healthy cooking, eating and exercise regimes.
“The Good Foundation is a regular CHANGE project provider that has a focus on healthy eating,” Cr McMahon said.
“A bonus for course participant is that Clifford Gardens Shopping Centre has chipped in a $10.00 voucher for participants to spend on ingredients within the centre.”
“After registering, participants will be emailed a digital voucher to redeem at the Customer Service Desk, for use at Woolworths or Coles within the Clifford Gardens Shopping Centre.
“Residents can find out more about the $10 voucher on the Clifford Gardens Facebook page or by visiting their website at www.cliffordgardens.com.au/whats-on.
