Libraries to re-open for 'click and collect' borrowing

Gannawarra Library Service members will be able to borrow items from its collection from Wednesday, 16 September thanks to the re-introduction of a “click and collect” service.

The service, to be offered at the Cohuna, Kerang, Leitchville and Quambatook branches, will enable residents to access the library service’s collection of books, magazines, audio books and DVDs.

“The Gannawarra Library Service continues to adhere to COVID-19 measures currently in place to protect customers and staff, but Council understands that being able to access our library resources can provide enjoyment and entertainment to residents in these difficult times,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.

To access this service, residents can phone either Kerang’s Sir John Gorton Library or the Cohuna, Leitchville and Quambatook branches to request to borrow a selection of items. Requests for items can also be completed via the Libraries Victoria app or by placing a hold via the library service’s online catalogue. Online holds will be limited to Gannawarra Library Service items for now.

Items will be placed ready for collection at a location which enables adequate social distancing.

“To help us to manage this new system, and to ensure items are collected in a timely fashion, library patrons must ring and allocate a time frame in which their holds or selections will be collected,” Mr O’Reilly said.

“Those who are not feeling well are encouraged not to collect any borrowed items themselves.”

Residents wanting to access this service, or those who have further queries, can phone the Cohuna branch on (03) 5452 2124 between 9.30am and 5pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, or Kerang’s Sir John Gorton Library on (03) 5452 1546 between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.
